Dustin Byfuglien #52 scored his first NHL hat trick on Friday. At 22 years old the defenseman is looking like the next big thing to swoop into the Hawks line up. The 6'3" Minneapolis native is a hard working, hard hitting player who hit his stride against the Pheonix Coyotes. The hat trick consisted of two power play goals and a goal at 5:01 from Sergei Samsonov. This is only the second hat trick for the Hawks this season when Patrick Sharp scored in quick succession on the Detroit Redwings on November 17th. This is the only hat trick scored on home ice in the United Center in 3 years, about time guys!

What a great game. Tonight's the kind of night where you drink a couple of beers, put your feet up and enjoy the fact that the Hockey gods smiled on your team. 43 seconds in Havlat went ahead and reminded me why I had missed him for the last 22 games of the season. That smooth break up of Lecavelier's rush on goal and just a fast tap right into the net.
Two goals for Havlat, and one goal each for Sharp, Byfuglien, Tarnasky and Toews. I like the way Chicago plays with divine intervention and even more when the Hawks are healthy. Final Score Chicago 5, Tampa Bay 1.

Welcome to ChicagoBlackhawksBlog.com. I’m excited to share the latest Blackhawks news with you and right now as we anticipate the game versus the Tampa Bay Lighting tonight, there is a lot of good news. Besides having my favorite and I would argue one of the most talented goaltenders in the league, Nikolai Khabibulin back in the line up the rest of the team is back in fighting form as well. This team is poised for a great week!

First things first though. – The Blackhawks are finally back in some semblance of good health. Basically after being totally decimated by the flu like a pack of third graders who all shared the same drinking glass, the team is gaining its health. Look, I understand it’s the National Hockey League, there are a lot of injuries and illness you can’t control - that’s the nature of the game, but come on! Flu wiping out your team?? Next year GM Dale Tallon needs to take everyone to the Clinic, stand in line with the Grandparents and pee wee hockey set and get some flu shots.

On to the good stuff! Coming back from the road the team took six points so the Blackhawk’s will be going into this game with a loss against the Canucks but some good effort against the Redwings and Flames. Actually pretty impressive work with some important players on the IR.

What is even better? One of our strongest players Patrick Sharp, will be joining Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews on a new line. Also on a new line will be Tuomo Ruutu, who had been skating with Kane and Toews, will be dropping to the third line and playing with Dustin Byfuglien and Jake Dowell. Let’s be honest things have not been working out as well as we want on the line with Kane, so hopefully the change will mix it up.

And in perhaps the biggest development for tonight’s game is the addition of this man, Martin Havlat. Welcome back, it’s been a long time! The Czechoslovakian right winger Havlat will be returning to the line up after the almost tragic shoulder injury during the very first game this season vs. the Minnesota Wild. After 22 games without Havlat we will be happy to see him back on the ice with Robert Lang and Jason Williams. Williams who was also out on a groin injury is also back from IR so this game promises to be fun. This match up will be a great time to see what the Hawks can do at home, with some key players back in full effect. Oh, and guys try to not share your water bottles.
